Paul Frankl Table At The Frank Sinatra Home
This Paul T. Frankl designer cork table from the Frank Sinatra Home was restored to the designer’s original intent. Paul Frankl is known as an Art Deco style designer and helped shape the distinctive look of American modernism, also known as Mid-Century Modern style. The table dates from c. 1950-59
The table top was stripped of white lacquer completely down to the bare cork and sanded clean, then stained a golden oak color. Sealer coats were then applied and sanded, and missing areas filled in and touched up to match. Multiple satin lacquer coat applications completed the cork table top restoration.
The base had been dyed red, and so it was stripped to the bare wood, sanded and stained with light walnut color dye then sealed and sanded down again. Multiple satin lacquer coats were applied and the finish was hand rubbed and lemon oiled to complete the work on the lattice base. The owners expressed their thanks and appreciation for the work when we delivered the restored table.
This Paul Frankl table stands in the Frank Sinatra House today and always draws admiration from visitors.
